I mean, we can all agree that when we do something new, we feel like we’re in a new dimension, but that’s not the only reason yoga can take you to another dimension.

Taking your shoes with you

Look, I get it. Without your shoes, your yoga fitness outfit just won’t be complete. It’s not just about being part of the yoga class. It is also about feeling like a part of the class, and what better to make yourself feel it than by putting on the perfect yoga active wear.

Be that as it may, once you enter the yoga room, you better leave your shoes at the door. Why? Well, apparently, shoes aren’t allowed in all yoga classes. I think they have good reason disallow it. I mean, when you do yoga you’re going to have your hands and feet on the mat from time to time. You’re going to be rolling around the room, and I don’t think that you’d want to drag your shoes along as you do the rolling.

If you love your shoes so much and don’t want it ruined or dirty, then you can stash it in a bag, but the important thing is that you enter the yoga class with your shoes off.

Comparing yourself to others

Perhaps you are quite fashionable, explaining why you can’t help but compare your outfit with others, but the yoga class isn’t really a fashion show.

Or maybe you’re not really the fashionista, but just as you walked into the room, you suddenly felt overwhelmed by the abilities of the people there. That only makes sense because they have been doing yoga for a much longer time than you.

Yoga class may seem like a group activity, but it more about making a connection between you and your body. That being said, it is about you, not the people you are doing the class with.

Once you get to the class, focus on yourself, because comparing yourself to others will get you into trouble.

We all know comparison always leads to jealousy, and whenever there’s jealousy, there is competition. Don’t get me wrong. I know that competitions can be a good thing, but only if you’re in the right setting. Yoga class isn’t a place for competition.

Comparing yourself to others while you’re in yoga class might lead you to take on yoga poses you’re not even ready for.

Turning your phone on

We all can’t live without our phones. It’s like the most important thing in the world. Think about it. Without our phone, there is no other way we can communicate with our friends and family. What if we needed a lift home? Well, of course, a pay phone will do if there are no other options, but still, having our phone around is still a necessity.

It’s no wonder that people has a habit of looking at their phone all the time to see of someone has messaged or voice called them.

Even so, when you enter the yoga class, you should make sure that your phone is turned off. Yoga class isn’t just some activity. It is an activity wherein you’ll need concentration.

What do you think will happen if you’re already deep in your savasana pose, when your phone suddenly rings? Not only will you be going out of focus, you’ll also disturb your other classmates.
